And Every Creeping Thing by Eric Craft
Synopsis: Long, long ago, in the corporate offices of heaven, angels and archangels work to decide what will be included in all of creation. At the center of it all is Entiel, a low-level angel just looking to make his creative mark on the insect department. A comedy about office hierarchy, the food chain, and what it means to be an artist, this new play by Eric Craft asks us to examine the Creator in us all.
This is a highly collaborative, new work development process where the playwright will be engaged and possibly doing rewrites of the script as we go. Actors have a unique opportunity through this workshop to help shape these characters and influence the story!
Characters:
Entiel: the angel responsible for the creation of all insects. Nervous, and isn't the best with words, but wildly passionate about his creations. Presents as a young man.
Arachne: the angel responsible for the creation of the food chain and arachnids. Entiel's closest friend and biggest champion. A hard worker who is ready to awaken her own creative spark. Presents as an older woman.
Terriel: Entiel and Arachne's "manager". The archangel responsible for the creation of animals who walk on land, including cattle. Rigid and constantly seeking validation from Ariel. Loves to show his authority over Entiel and criticizes him for his creative passions. Presents as both cow boy and horse girl. Open to all genders.
Marina: the archangel responsible for the creation of animals that swim through the seas. Competitive with Terriel to gain respect from Ariel. Presents as a woman.
Ariel: the cherub responsible for managing the animal department. The one everyone is afraid to piss off. Has four faces/personalities as human, ox, eagle, and lion. Open to all genders.
Empyrean: the archangel responsible for the creation of animals that fly through the sky. Later revealed to be a mighty seraphim (one step away from God). Playful and delightful, loves the creative process. Takes Entiel under their wing and roots for their creations. Open to all genders.
